After months away in exile I’m back and ready for the PWM launch. In the past few months we’ve: completely reskinned the site, made it prettier and more functional; rethought and streamlined the flow; and tried to add some new fun flair.
In the next few weeks the site is going up and we’ll be needing y’all to help us create MatchGroups and spread the word.
(I promise not to let a year to elapse between posts…maybe.)

Does anyone else remember how the Sega Saturn’s system clock affected Nights? Do you remember Christmas Nights? Of course, this type of thing has been done by other games several times since and I’m always surprised it’s not done more.
It’s fun dreaming up ways time can affect a user’s experience with a game (or service) by bringing a little bit of the users world in, making it all the more immersive. I’m not sure at this point if immersion is my goal…I just think it’s neat.
Rumor has it we may enable SPM. Well, no comment, but umm…yes. Anything to speed up the matching process! And yes I know…you have no idea what SPM is.
Sitting here watching Startup.com for the 3rd time. We have no venture capital (don’t want any), we have no employees…yet. We really have is a very cool idea, lots of varied experience, great vision and realistic expectations.
I hope to make this site fun, light and full of surprises and delight. It’s a lot of fun dreaming up ways to infuse personality into the site. There will be hidden links and little bits of quirkiness sprinkled throughout….(if I get my way)
We did a test on matching…200,000 members matching on a single profile (Gamer Dater) and it only took 2 days and 20 minutes. We somehow gotta magically shrink matching to something far below a second. We’ll try some good old fashion optimizing and then maybe a prayer or two. If all else fails we’ll turn to voodoo or try wishing upon a star.
Update: We extrapolated the matching time and it came out to over 16 years.
It’s about 11:10 pm on Friday night, didn’t feel like doing much tonght so I stayed in to catch Friday Night Lights and a few episodes of SATC on TBS. Clicked through the various dating sites I subscribe to…passive…blah…just feel like talking to someone right now. Would be nice to talk about Wings or something. Remember that episode where Brian had to dress up like a clown and host a birthday party on the plane while Joe had run off to an island to blow off some stream…or the time that Helen found out that she was still married to Antonio and had to get a quikie divorce without Joe finding out…
Remember that old Palm V commercial from years ago? The concept of being able to meet someone using technology that previously you would have never had a chance to meet really resonates with me.
